No. This is not a photoshopped image. Your eyes do NOT deceive you. The Dallas Cowboys, including owner Jerry Jones just effectively gave the President of The United States the middle finger. Shit. Just. Got. Real.

Over the weekend the POTUS, in yet another example of his brilliant insight and exemplary conduct as leader of the free world, used his bully pulpit in the form of twitter to once again place himself squarely on the wrong side of history. To paraphrase what he “tweeted” in case you didn’t read it, he basically called for anyone in the NFL that takes a knee during the national anthem to be fired.

This would be unacceptable behavior for any other POTUS, but it’s par for the course for the current occupant of the residence at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. In the past, when presidents made their opinions known about the social issues of the day, their words were taken seriously, whether the general consensus agreed or disagreed with their point of view.

Now, the bar has been lowered to such depths by #45 that not only are this “president’s” comments not taken seriously, things have gotten to the point where just about everything that comes out of his mouth, or in this case his twitter feed, is just further evidence of his low, single digit IQ, his loose, tiny-handed grip on reality and his truly dizzying semi-conscious lack of impulse control.

This, a white supremacy cheerleading, draft-dodging, Russian-colluding, Putin boot-licking, faux billionaire wannabe, popular vote losing, petulant man-baby who is about as fit to be president as Napoleon was.

Not Bonaparte. Nope. Wrong Napoleon. He couldn’t carry that Napoleon’s jock strap. The OTHER Napoleon. You know. The one from George Orwell’s “Animal Farm”? The Pig. Fearless Leader. Comrade Napoleon. Father of All Animals, Terror of Mankind. Protector of the Sheep-fold. Ducklings’ Friend. Yeah, that one. Only, even that Napoleon was far more fit to be president than the current (if only he were make-believe) nightmare that is without question the greatest embarrassment in the history of our nation.

Once again, he grossly misjudged the zeitgeist, not only of the American people, but of the wealthy 2%’ers that own America’s Pastime, NFL owners. Every comment from them was in support of the player’s right to protest and stand up for what they believe in by taking a knee.

All except for one owner – Jerry Jones. But here’s the rub. As you’ll notice when you take a look see at the photo above, even though Mr. America’s Team himself said that anyone that plays for his team who disrespects the flag by taking a knee during the national anthem would be fired, he still joined in solidarity with his players and took a knee in the middle of the field before the national anthem to defend their right to protest the injustice going on in this country.

Some will say Jerry did this to protect his brand and his cash cow. I say that Jerry was able to separate his feelings of patriotism (not allowing his players to disrespect the flag during the national anthem) and his belief that his players have the right (by symbolically taking a knee to point out the injustice people of color are still being subjected to in 2017) to peacefully protest the fact that they believe that the pledge of allegiance is not living up to the promise it represents for a large part of the U.S. population.

So, even if you hate the Dallas Cowboys you have to love that just this once, even if it was just for a few fleeting moments before the opening kickoff on a Monday Night Football game on September 25, 2017, the Dallas Cowboys really were America’s Team.
