Dear NFL:
If you want the Hall Of Fame to be taken seriously, how can you seriously not have inducted Bo Jackson into the Hall by now? Really? Seriously? I don’t need to tell you about his stats. I don’t need to tell you about how he changed every game he played in, even before he ever stepped out onto the playing field. I don’t have to tell you that he is arguably the greatest athlete of all time – in ANY sport. And please don’t try to tell me he hasn’t made the cut because of how few games he played and because of how short his career was. It’s not how long someone plays; it’s the impact they make when they do. (I’m sure a similar debate will occur with Curt Warner – who should also be in the Hall.) The litmus test for induction into the HOF is now, and always has been, whether or not the history of the league can be written without the individual who is up for consideration. And I would just love for you to try to convince me that you can write said history without one Bo Jackson. So, now the only question is, when are you going to do the right thing and restore the credibility of the league and the Hall Of Fame by inducting Bo Jackson into those hallowed halls? So we can stop pointing and laughing in your general direction.
