Put this on your head and your tongue will beat your brains out trying to get to it.

Barbecue in the big city has come a long way. No longer do you have to trek out into the sticks to find barbecue worthy of your barbecue jonesin’ taste buds. Not at all. In fact, the best barbecue you’re likely to find these days is right in the heart of some of the biggest cities in the country. Everyone knows about big cities already famous for barbecue. Memphis. St. Louis. Kansas City. Raleigh. You know, the usual suspects. But for my money, the best barbecue I’ve had was in the one place you would probably least likely believe to be the case: New York City. Yeah, I’m as surprised as you are. But my taste buds don’t lie. And since I’ve eaten barbecue in some of the top barbecue joints in the country, on multiple occasions –  I know from which I speak. The best thing (and perhaps the hardest to believe) is the fact that there are insanely good places to enjoy world-class barbecue throughout Gotham. Don’t take my word for it, check this out: https://www.thrillist.com/eat/new-york/the-definitive-guide-to-the-best-bbq-in-nyc

Now, having eaten at several of those gems, and others that aren’t the list that I feel have been unfairly left out, my favorite is Hill Country BBQ located (with a second location in Brooklynn.) in the Flatiron District. 30 W 26th Street to be more precise. Or anything because everything is barbecue perfection. That said, my favorite is the 2 or 3 meat plates, because – 3 meats. I get the pork ribs and the brisket and one bite of each is enough to remind me that if it ever came down to it and I has facing a needle in the arm on death row, this meal is indeed Death Row Last Meal Good. Morbid? Maybe. Is it really that damn good? Most definitely. If you don’t live in NYC and you ever have the good fortune to be there during their business hours, make it your business to get down to business here. You will thank me later.
