So, let me get this straight: I call your restaurant up and place an order to go and you give me the receipt to sign and you actually wonder whether or not a tip is forthcoming? First of all, tipping, unless there are 6 or more in your party, is a voluntary charge. A charge added for services provided. I have no issue with tipping a server. Hell, I worked as a waiter when I was in college. I made a crap load of money for giving good service. And I earned every dollar I received. The key word being “earned”. And when I order food to go, the person who hands me my order when I take out food has not done anything other than just that. So when should a tip be added to a bill for takeout? Is never soon enough?
