As this guy proved in "Total Recall", Interactive Entertainment can be intensely manly.

Being a Manly Man takes a lot out of you. It can manifest itself in many ways, most of which results in undue stress – especially for those of us who work for a living. So, the trick is, to play as hard as you work. And how you choose to play, is just as important as how much you play.

My outlet of choice is interactive entertainment, aka video games. If you haven’t played video games in the last 10 years, you are in for the surprise of your life. The first surprise? Video Games are not just for kids anymore. Not hardly. In fact, some “games” like some of the movies at your friendly neighborhood multiplex, are intended for mature audiences only. Meaning kids can’t buy them.

And there are so many different genres to choose from, unless you have a “grown men don’t waste their time playing video games” stick up your ass, you will definitely find something you like. I play games for escapist, gratuitous fun. Sports games, stealth games, fighting games, and platformers, and open world virtual sandbox games are what make up the bulk of my I.E. Library.

The first thing you need to do is to decide on the right system for your tastes, or, if you’re like me, all of the above. I’d go to a store like GameStop or EB Games and tell them you’d like to try out the Xbox One, the PS4 and the Wii to see which one makes your man meat stand at attention.

Each system has its merit, so you’ll want to make sure you spend enough time with each one to see which one will best fit into your Man Cave shenanigans. I love all three for different reasons, which range from games exclusive to one system and not available on the other, the user interface for a given game (or games), and the ease of use for playing online against my fellow gamers who are spread out across the globe. Whichever system or systems you choose, take it from me, you will be proud to usher them into the mainframe of your Man Cave.
